Three ship companies since the start of the year, the south Korean hyundai, daewoo shipbuilding and samsung heavy orders quantity sustained growth, rallied after the end of last year order quantity, after South Korea shipbuilding industry recovery is strong.
According to south Korean media reported, hyundai heavy industries in January of this year received a total of 14 new ship orders, worth about $800 million, order amounts to 4 times the left and right sides of the same period of last year, is also the hyundai heavy industries since 2014 January order quantity is the highest level.
At the end of January, hyundai also received orders for at-shore LNG (ASLNG) from Steelhead LNG Corp, with a total value of about $500 million. This is the first order of Marine equipment that hyundai has received in three years since October 2014.
Daewoo shipbuilding in January received a total of about $400 million worth of new shipping orders, including two LNG carriers and one dedicated ship. Among them, two LNG ship orders came from an American ship owner valued at about $370 million. In addition, daewoo shipbuilding plans to deliver 20 LNG ships this year for the first time globally.
The company also received about 1 trillion won ($900 million) in new shipping orders in January. In the near term, samsung heavy industries received orders for eight 12000TEU container ships from evergreen, with a total value of about 820 billion won ($738 million). The new Panamanian container captain, 334 meters wide and 48.4 meters wide, will be delivered by May 2021.
In addition, the company recently announced a change to its target, raising its target from $7.7 billion to $8.2 billion in 2018.
